Much of our exotic jewelry comes from Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. Featured here are a special type of fair-trade jewelry: brass rings, earrings, and pendant necklaces made from recycled bullet and bomb shells from Cambodia. Most of the artillery shells are from the Khmer Rouge period (1975-1979) in Cambodia, and the fair trade organization that makes the jewelry was just around the corner from the Cambodian apartment where we lived for about a year over the last six years. Our customers appreciate the transformation of something that was used for destructive purposes into something functional and aesthetically beautiful, a form of "beating swords into plowshares," to use biblical language.
